Early Credit:

An 8th grade student may earn early credit by taking a high school level history course. Middle school history classes do not count as high school credit.

Dual Credit:

History could be taken for both high school and college credit at any college. For example, Liberty University (online) offers dual credit history and social studies classes.

College Requirements:

Colleges want to see U.S. History, U.S. Government, and World History. Check with the colleges that your child might attend for their specific requirements.

State of Maryland Requirements:

Currently, the State of Maryland requires 3 credits in social studies, and must include American History, World History, and Government.
