An 8th grade student may earn early credit by taking a high school level history course. Middle school history classes do not count as high school credit.
History could be taken for both high school and college credit at any college. For example, Liberty University (online) offers dual credit history and social studies classes.
Colleges want to see U.S. History, U.S. Government, and World History. Check with the colleges that your child might attend for their specific requirements.
State of Maryland Requirements:
Currently, the State of Maryland requires 3 credits in social studies, and must include American History, World History, and Government.
